What the heck is a forum?

To put it simply, a forum a public medium or place used for debates in which anyone can participate. Think of a forum like a classroom except, this class has no walls! It’s a classroom where every student around the world is trying to learn and they can come here to participate.

There are a lot of benefits to forums, but these three stand out:

You can get support immediately. You don’t have to wait until your professor emails back. Instead, you can post instanty on the forum and can get the support you need, when you need it. Depending on the time of day, the forum may be more busy and feel even more like a snapchat conversation.

Because the pool of experiences isn’t limited, online forums can give you a rich library of references and examples. You’ll often get stories of students who have tried one strategy or another — or perhaps they can share a personal tip that’s worked for them. Many students will approach these forums with questions about products JUST so they can get references!

A group can often produce better work than one person. In a forum an idea is put forward but it’s never really finished, someone else can pick up on it and spark more ideas/conversation.

Learning by conversation is more powerful for most people than learning by reading. Let’s be honest though, conversation isn’t available at all hours of the day, but with forums it gives you a platform to do just that. The best way to check your understanding is to explain something to others. So try it!
